LPG drives your dollar further every time you fill up. Despite fluctuating fuel prices, LPG remains the obvious choice for ongoing cost savings. Fitting your LPG system comes at a reasonable price and installation is subsidised by the Federal Government. So that every time you fill up, the price of your conversion is quickly paid back.

LPG is at least 50 per cent cheaper than other fuels and means private motorists can make significant financial savings. Converting your vehicle to LPG will generally deliver a cost saving of between 55 to 65 cents per litre, resulting in hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars worth of savings every year.

			<title>SAVES YOUR CAR – HIGHER PERFORMANCE WITH LPG</title>
			<body>
LPG is a superior automotive fuel that provides a smooth-running engine with comparable performance to petrol with no loss in power or torque.
Dual-fuel LPG systems allow the vehicle to operate on either LPG or unleaded petrol. You can switch from gas to petrol or vice-versa, which can almost double your vehicle’s range – perfect for regular commuting and long-distance family holidays.

			<title>Fleet Savings</title>
			<body>
Successfully running a business vehicle fleet is a balancing act. Fleet managers must consider the availability and suitability of the vehicle, the running costs and corporate environmental policies.
LP Gas is the solution. Not only can LP Gas be used to run almost any motor vehicle, it regularly sells for less than half the price of standard unleaded petrol.
As fuel prices are seemingly ever increasing, Australian motorists are rushing to capitalise on cleaner, cheaper and more abundant Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). There has been a particularly strong increase in the conversion to LPG in the light commercial vehicle sector. This is where tradesmen, couriers and small transport operators with high mileage vehicles are saving substantial dollars per week on their fuel bills by converting to LPG.

			<title>Government LPG Vehicle Grants</title>
			<body>
Since Monday 14 August 2006, the Federal Government has provided grants for the purchase of an LPG vehicle or the conversion of a vehicle to run on LPG.
The grants include the following:
•	$1,500 toward the purchase cost of a new LPG-dedicated or dual-fuel (petrol/LPG) vehicle for non-business use
•	$1,500 toward the cost of approved and fitted LPG conversion of a motor vehicle for non-business use
To be eligible, the vehicle must be for private use (not for commercial or business use) and:
Be any passenger or light commercial vehicle weighing less than 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass Must be registered in the state of residence of the claimant
In addition:
The vehicle must not be subject to a Novated Lease or Salary Sacrifice
With one conversion per person every three years, these grants will be available for a period of eight years, so there is plenty of time to get LPG for your vehicle
You will need to pay for the LPG conversion first and then claim back the grant from either a Centrelink or Medicare office. Applications can be submitted from 1 October 2006 and you will need a receipt for the installation or purchase showing a payment date of 14 Aug 2006 or later
Application forms are also available from Centrelink and Medicare locations and via the AusIndustry web site

			<title>Technology </title>
			<body>
Rapid technological developments are transforming the LPG industry in Australia, allowing new models to challenge their petrol-powered equivalents for performance and fuel economy.
Recently, a number or new LPG systems have been developed that combine advanced electronic management with various fuel injection technologies. These developments have progressed quickly from single throttle body delivery system(venture/mixer) through to multipoint port injection – both in timed simultaneous injection and timed sequential injection forms. These systems are generally referred to as third generation systems. Advantages of third generation systems include quicker engine response, improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions and the elimination of damaging backfire.
The new Vaporised Sequential Injection (commonly known as VSI or SVI) system has been developed in such a way that, with very few component changes, it can be used for both LPG and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) applications. The VSI System has the following advantages:
•	Fully integrated master/slave management system
•	EOBD compatible
•	Comprehensive system diagnostics monitors vital signals and components
•	Emissions optimisation strategy
•	High quality components such as injectors, ECU and regulator
•	No to minimal power and torque losses

				Vehicle emissions are considered one of the major contributors to climate change. It is more important than ever to consider alternative fuel sources and making a significant contribution to a healthier planet. An LPG-powered vehicle emits less carbon dioxide and other pollutants than its petrol-powered equivalents. As a cleaner burning fuel than petrol, LPG is one of the most high performance fuels available. The design of the LPG unit also contributes to a healthier fuel delivery system.

		LPG typically has around 20 per cent less ozone-forming potential than petrol, which is the measure of the tendency to generate photochemical smog. It also emits between 10-15 per cent lower greenhouse gases and only one-fifth air toxics emissions.
The black smoke coming from diesel vehicles contains particulates – a known cause of respiratory ailments and deaths, over 90 per cent of these particulates would be eliminated.
Compared with unleaded petrol, LPG creates:
-15-20% less greenhouse gases
-30-40% less volatile organic compounds
-50-60% less carbon monoxide
-80% less toxic air pollutants

When refuelling with petrol or diesel, chemical vapours escape into the atmosphere and can be breathed in. However, filling an LPG tank is a fully-sealed process and only a very small amount of LPG is released when disconnecting the refuelling nozzle, and thus safer to use.

			<title>What is LPG? </title>
			<body>Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG is the generic name for mixtures of hydrocarbons (mainly propane and butane). LPG is a colourless, odourless gas heavier than air. A chemical called ethylmercaptan is added to it to impart a pungent odour to assist leak detection. Automotive LPG is a mixture of propane and butane, while bottled gas used for domestic purposes (such as cooking and heating) consists mainly of propane. For safety reasons, automotive LPG and the domestic grade cannot be interchanged. LPG is gaseous at normal pressures and temperatures but will liquefy readily under moderate pressure or reduced temperature. One litre of LPG equates to 270 litres of Vapour (gas).

			<title>How safe is it to use LPG in my car?</title>
			<body>
			LPG is arguably safer than any other form of fuel used to power motor vehicles. It has been used safely in Australia for many decades and the Australian standards for LPG equipment, appliances and their installation and for storage and handling are among the world’s best. Every aspect of the LPG industry is covered by a National Code or Standard and also by similar or additional State Regulations.

			<title>How often do I need to service my car on LPG?</title>
			<body>
			Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations on periodic / routine servicing of your vehicle. As all LPG systems rely on the engines cooling system it is important that the engines cooling systems be maintained in a serviceable condition, including checking the coolant level on a daily / weekly basis.
LPG requires a slightly higher firing voltage than petrol, it is recommended that the vehicles ignition system be maintained to a minimum of the vehicle manufacturers specifications.
